  • Okay, where does the chapter start
  • Shit, no he wouldn’t say that…
  • Am I foreshadowing too hard
  • I’ve used the word ‘chair’ seventeen times in the paragraph. This is supposed to be exposition about snakes
  • WHAT DO YOU MEAN I’VE BEEN WRITING IN THE WRONG TENSE FOR THE LAST PAGE AND A HALF
  • I need a break from this story
  • Wait, where was I? Did I just kill her, or did she just make out with someone?
    • She did both??????
  • Have I been misspelling his name this entire time or
  • If I have to resort to describing her hair as ‘golden princess curls’ one more time I think I’m just gonna have to kill her
  • IS THIS SYMBOLISM SUBTLE ENOUGH YET
  • Did I actually just write that
  • Have I referenced his necklace yet this chapter? Only four times? One more time, then I’m done, I swear
  • Shit, that’s not how that works
  • Can I call something a French braid in a world where France doesn’t exist?
  • What the shit do you mean I just spent four hours writing 500 words?

That second one, like holy hell talk about my life. And the answer’s no, which means you have to either delve into the hairstyles, language, and importance of worlds in your world that readers won’t even take a full second to read. Or you could call it a French braid and have it grate on you every time you see it.

I’m not so sure that this counts as “Writing 101.” You’ve got some seriously advanced techniques thrown in there. Sounds like the frustration of a junior going into their first senior level class! XD
