“What has violence against Nazis ever accomplished?”
The end of the holocaust, for starters, ya lollipops.
so tens of millions of people dying was worth saving a small number of jews?
6 million people is not a “small number”, and jewish people weren’t even the only groups impacted. All told, an estimated 12 million people died in the holocaust. And yes, that is a smaller number than the total number of casualties in the war (about 60 million, including Holocaust victims), the vast majority of which were in Russia (about 26 million).
The point, however, is that if there hadn’t been any violent intervention against the Nazis, that the holocaust numbers would have been unimaginably higher.
Are you saying that the Lives of Jewish people, as well as the Romani, gay, and disabled people threatened by the holocaust weren’t worth fighting for?
Don’t forget that many of those who died were Nazis, that’s also a good thing.
I’m not trying to be that guy but this post got me thinking. Germany was broke af when Hitler rose to power, so becoming a nazi was one of the best jobs around. I’m not in any way trying to say what they did was right, but can you imagine hating yourself with every fiber of your moral being and going to a job for something you know is wrong so your child or wife are able to eat? The Holocause and ww2 in general was just so fucked man
As someone who’s family is from Germany and who’s grandmother escaped to the US under threat of her family being looted and killed by Nazis, don’t be “that guy” that gives them any sort of excuse to what happened.
Germany’s economy may have been fucked, but beating and dehumanizing other people is not a way to feed your family and no good person would ever consent to doing that just to pay the bills. Not only that, but that’s painting Nazi soldiers as humble men and women who begrudgingly served a monster in order to support their kids.
My grandmother watched a Nazi soldier throw a child to the ground and press its face into the mud while its mother screamed. A vast majority of Nazis did their jobs with pride, looted and raped and beat and murdered in pride. They were proud to serve the Führer. They should have hated themselves, but lets be honest, they didn’t.
@monsters-and-teeth Well keep in mind that the loudest ones are going to normally be the worst. You don’t remember the guy walking down the street, but you don’t forget the guy who does terrible things. Holocaust survivors have even said themselves not all nazis were bad. And a father would go to the end of the earth and back to keep his family fed. There is just so more to the conversation than just “nazis were bad.” You gotta take into consideration the propaganda, the economy, how huge racism was all over the world, and so many other things that contributed to it.

No, not really. Given that they intentionally and methodically murdered millions of people. Wanting to have a steady job doesn’t make genocide less horrific.
Maybe don’t be a literal Nazi apologist.
“so tens of millions of people dying was worth saving a small number of jews? “ is this….implying…..that jews….aren’t people…..
