No one on Earth deserves to have a billion dollars.

The fact that a single person even could have a billion dollars is only possible through exploitation and human suffering.

Oi, the notes on this post have become a trash heap.

To reiterate a point: we are talking about individual billionares and the global economy. If you look at a corporation, if ALL workers at every stage of the process were paid fairly AND all raw materials were produced sustainably, the profit margins wouldnt allow for a single person to amass a BILLION DOLLARS.

That kind of wealth hoarding harms millions of people, stagnates economies, and is built on environmental degradation and human exploitation.

This isnt about Timmy at McDonald’s smokin weed on the weekend instead of pulling himself up by his bootstraps and inventing a viral app. Its about oligarchs manipulating global economies for personal gain on a scale most of us cant easily conceptualize.

Everything you ask for is subjective. What’s “paid fairly”? That in and of itself is different to every person. Wealth is also subjective. Most of these “billionaires”, are paper billionaires. Their wealth fluctuates with the stock market. They aren’t “cash billionaires”.

Capitalism is the only system that you have a chance to create your own goals and achieve them.

I find it hilariously hypocritical of you, a hardened pro-abortion person who feels you can do whatever you want with your body, except you can’t use it to fuel the earning potential that you set for yourself. There has to be fairness and limits on that. Funny.

The fact dollar amount of “fairly” may vary from place to place, sure, cost of living. But it sure as hell isnt what we are seeing in sweatshops filled with child workers in China.

And honestly, this idea that Billionares arent REALLY rich because their Billions of dollars are invested in assets is laughable. As though the oligarchs arent rich BECAUSE they have hundreds of millions in investments. What?

And again, this isnt about individual americans pulling themselves up by their bootstraps. Im all for people trying to better their circumstances. But I am also repulsed by this global economic system that allows and encourages millions to suffer so a few can be inconceivably wealthy.

There is no system ever in history that hasn’t worked that way. Capitalism is the only system that allows some to succeed who might not under socialism, or communism.

“I cant think of Anything better so shut up and be ok with it” is a pretty shitty world view, friend.

There is no better. Humans will always lookout for self and family first. Friends second. Strangers, sure we care if it doesn’t overly effect the lifestyle we want. Capitalism allows both those who care for others and self to succeed or fail.

Same answer dude. Just because you cant imagine a better system than predatory global capitalism doesnt mean there isnt one or couldnt be one.

Imagination is great when you’re six. When you have to face real life and understand what all of us are really about, then idealistic dreamlands don’t help anything.

There is no “fairness”, or “level playing” field in the world. Never has been. You do your best and don’t begrudge others who have better, and you don’t look down on those who have less.

Its not really about looking down on those who have less. Its about trying to help them. Its about trying to help all of us.

Like, I dont know if anyone told you, but uncritically accepting the status quo and sneering at people who are trying to innovate improvements isnt a sign of mature enlightenment.

Once, the divine right of kings and the iron hand of feudalism must have seemed like the best possible option. But people grow and societies grow and our economies evolve. To assume that the prevailing economic system you personally were born into is the height of possible human achievement is laughable, vain, and short sighted.

You can’t legislate kindness, fairness, and charity. Then what you have isn’t any of those. You have a system of arbitrary laws that dictate what is kind, what is fair, and how charitable you should be.

Every individual has the power to archive your goal. Don’t shop at Wal-Mart, shop at your locally owned store. Buy a phone from a start up company, not Apple, and etc.

I don’t disagree with you that capitalism isn’t the answer. Pure capitalism is Monopoly in real life. Now indeed we have anti-monopoly laws but they are weak. At one time the US alone had 63 car manufacturing companies. Yes, 63. Talk about fair wages and great opportunity.

The root of the problem isn’t billionaires, it’s the average person. The average person who left the small town for a bigger city. The farmer who now farms 10,000 acres instead of 1,000 or 500. It’s the refusal of people to not pay more for food. Cheap, cheap, cheaper, the better. Caused farmers to stop using 6 row equipment and now use 24 row equipment. Less farmers, smaller small towns. Now instead of 2 grocery stores there is 1 or none. Fewer jobs in a small town, people have to leave, or travel. Now you complete for jobs from all over the place in a city which allows for lower wages. Those who travel to work or to the store have to recoupe that expense somewhere, so they go to a mega store for cheaper prices.

So don’t tell my it’s the billionaires. Are they taking advantage of the situation? Yep. Who caused the situation? The average person by their unwillingness to support their own small town and/or pay more for food.

The U.S. pays the least for food and basic living expenses in first world countries. Now it’s rearing its ugly head.

Death of the family farm = death of small towns = making the rich richer and the poor poorer.

The die has been cast.

“Its poor peoples fault that bill gates has 88 billion dollars! They should be ashamed of themselves.”

Have you ever seen someone with so little understanding of global economics.

The US government literally caused a political coup in Honduras so The United Fruit Company could sell bananas on the cheap.

But, no, its Grannys fault for not spending enough money at the farmers market.

Yikes.
