Nope. Girl 2 saw that Girl 1′s absolutely accurate analysis was being shut down just because it wasn’t stated in an intellectual way (in spite of its validity). So Girl 2 reinforced Girl 1′s opinions in solidarity and made sure that it was absolutely clear that Girl 1 was factually correct. WITHOUT taking credit for her observations (”kim is right” instead of “Actually, kim”)

I’m in education right now, and one of my classes is about academic language and how we as teachers not only use it ourselves, but how we need to teach it as basically like a second language. We’re told that we need to facilitate it, let it grow in the classroom, and this video pisses me off so much because he uses her inexperience with academic language and his questions like a punishment. He embarrasses her, makes her flustered, and he does nothing to help cultivate the use of academic language because he immediately writes her off as lazy. Just, as someone in the teaching field, this videos makes me so angry, but also so smug when the other girl schools him by supporting what was said. In academic terms. Because apparently he’s such a crappy teacher that he can’t recognize one of his student’s brilliance in her social/everyday language, or the fact she can recognize a poorly written, poor structure novel.
