this is hilarious bc there are plenty of reasons why a career criminal and a Double Orphan whose entire planet blew up might end up as shitty or distant parents, and if this is in fact accurate then they picked the least compelling one imaginable

Kylo Whine has the least valid reason in the known Force.  Kylo “Light side is mean” Ren has chosen a destructive path out of spite because he felt he wasn’t getting enough attention as a child.

This isn’t a sympathy arc. 

This is a “This villain s AN ACTUAL DICK who chose to be a spiteful BRAT who became a SPITEFUL MURDEROUS BASTARD WHO KILLED HIS OWN FATHER” arc. 

Like, this is not a sympathy bid when you’re whiny about being raised by Princess Leia Whole planet destroyed before her eyes PTSD Organa War Veteran Solo and Han “Frozen in conscious death with a long time to think about everything” Solo. Also your parents were galaxy legends and you chose to side with people who wanted to destroy it all rather than run around as the second coming of the rebellion as the literal heir to the whole damn thing, and your uncle is a DEMIGOD and your adopted uncle is a walking cuddle carpet, and you’ve got R2D2 as a playmate and Threepio as a teacher, and the whole of the damn rebellion as an extended family, plus all the x-wing piloting your could want, and the Falcon….

This is not a sympathy arc, this a puppy kicker fatherstabber who needs to get their world view expanded with paired proton torpedoes to the FACE. He’s a dick, he chose to be a dick, and may his dicknesses cost him a limb or more in a violent chain reaction caused by lashing out with a lightsaber somewhere with important “DO NOT HIT WITH PLASMA SWORDS” equipment.

Like seriously, Kylo “I asked for this” Ren is a complete dick, and I am going to enjoy booing him on screen and seeing him get punched by the script.
