democrats (plus independents): 48 seats
republicans: 52 seats
why do you think the current alabama special election for ONE senate seat is such a big fucking deal right now??? because one seat can change the entire outlook of trumps legislation thats being passed and seriously screwing the entire country
washington state is a blue state and dem senators generally win with 20+ points. this dave strider guy is going up against maria cantwells reelection campaign, and even if every homestuck votes for him shes likely to win – the problem here is that the difference in democratic turnout in the % numbers STILL has an effect. if democratic senators win with 5% or 10% more than usual even that will still have an impact, because it sends a message to republicans that people are pissed off and energetic and willing to come out and vote them out of office if they keep screwing people over. so even if youre like “lol this is a blue state anyway so im still going to vote for the dave strider nobody” youre still throwing your vote away when it can STILL be useful
as funny as it is please stop seriously encouraging people who live in washington state to vote for a fucking homestuck joke. do not throw your vote away like a fucking dumbass. this isnt a joke.
