Canadian friends concerned about net neutrality
Very little news has popped up about this but apparently Bell is pushing to end net neutrality in Canada. Currently they are allegedly asking the CRTC for permission to begin blocking websites in Canada with no oversight under the guise of ending piracy, though statistically that has been on decline due to streaming services growing popularity. Shaw Communications has advocated separately for website blocking permissions with oversight from the CRTC to block specific websites that violate copyright law. Other companies that have been reported to be in with Bell on their proposal are Cineplex and potentially Rogers, we need to get more information on this as right now there is very little clarity on what is actually going on. This proposal is reportedly going to be presented on December 19th please join me in monitoring this situation so that we can end this before it gets started.
