idiotfromindiana:

the argument that dismantling net neutrality does not infringe on the first amendment is semantics and a loophole and i fucking see what you are doing. that’s like saying trickle down economics works.

“give the wealthy all the money/tax breaks and they invest more of it in businesses that employ the less wealthy and and they’ll get paid more”

yeah okay but that’s then contingent upon the wealthy actually doing that. and not just keeping all that money to invest on themselves and doing so without recourse.

congress is not passing a law to infringe on the first amendment—it would be up the individual providers to uphold these freedoms”

you’re literally building the system to let them do that. scale of 1 to fuck you, how much do i believe that shit will actually get prosecuted. guess

speech and press are the obvious ones, but i’m more concerned about freedom of assembly. you can always think and say what you want without wifi, and print might not be healthy but it exists and so do local news stations.

think of all the rallies in the past year and a half. would they have been so huge and impactful without the open internet?

i wouldn’t have found my secular meetup group without the internet. call that one freedom of religion too if you like.

a generation of lgbtq+ kids have had a safe place to find themselves on internet forums and social media.

you’re telling me it’s cool to just. take that away.
