Executive Function is our ability to know when to do things and actually do it (on time that is). It lets us plan and organize as well.

Executive dysfunction is what people with ADHD and many other neurological/mental disorders have. It is having a problem with actually doing the task at hand. People with ADHD struggle to get started; often times we know about and really want to do the task, it just seems difficult to start doing.

So what’s the difference between executive dysfunction and procrastination? Procrastination is a deliberate thing. You know you have a task and you choose not to do the task.

Executive dysfunction is knowing you have the task, wanting to do it, but can’t figure out how to start it, what order to do it in, you misjudge how long to do something for, perhaps you have problems finishing it as well.
