Ok but aren’t emus actually super dangerous
anything has the potential to be dangerous, especially big animals in constant contact with humans. (theyre common farm animals, in some places) they have VERY powerful legs and big nails [above] so yes emus are potentially dangerous, but I think the big-danger-bird you’re thinking of is their relative, the cassowary [below]
Emus are honestly big babies. I’ve been in a pen full of at least 30 who were ready for their breakfast and I was carrying their breakfast so they were all super hyper and trying to get to the food first by kicking each other away. Their feet came up to my head at each kick and it should have been terrifying, except that despite brushing against me not one foot ever came remotely close to hitting me, and once I filled their feeding station many of them sought me out for pets/attention.
They’re big and good babies.
