In case you haven’t heard, Donald Trump used his platform on Thanksgiving to tell the U.S. military that they are now authorized to murder refugees on sight in Texas.

I mean, I guess of all days to encourage a genocide, Thanksgiving would be the most appropriate day for it. But anyway. Let’s take this as an opportunity to go down the good old United Nations Genocide ™ checklist:

– attempting to limit reproduction within a group

– destruction of family ties within a group, particularly by separating children from parents

– forcing members of a marginalized group to carry identifying documentation to prove their legal residency

– revocation of citizenship

– any attempt to inflict conditions of life calculated to bring about a group’s elimination

– executive permission to slaughter a particular marginalized class on sight

hmmmm…… how bout that. it’s almost… like… the united states
government……………. is actively engaging in genocidal behavior against indigenous and latinx
people…

The President of the United States deployed an army to its southern border and encouraged his soldiers to murder refugees on sight. Why is no one talking about this?

“It’s important to remember that the Holocaust actually did not start from gas chambers,” [The Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum] continued. “This hatred gradually developed from words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence.”
