“I don’t cheat to win. I’d rather lose.” —Serena

I followed this US Open up until the the final match that I ended up missing today. After seeing what transpired, I’m glad I did. I just knew it was gonna be a tough, nail-biting, exciting match between two Black women—one who’s the greatest athlete of all-time and the other who’s a young, hungry, explosive player who’s competing against her idol—who were gonna put on an amazing, historic show.

That didn’t happen.

Carlos Ramos, the asshole umpire who called a coaching violation against Serena during her match against Naomi Osaka at the US Open Final, called the same thing against Venus during her match against Alize Cornet at the French Open in 2016. Both stood their ground and refuted it. He’s doesn’t do it to the men, even after Rafael Nadal threatened him at the 2017 French Open.

Many of the fans were already on edge because they were rooting for Serena. To bring his bullshit to the game, intensify an uneasy atmosphere, and cause Naomi’s first win to be overshadowed by it to the point that she tearfully apologized during her speech to the crowd almost as if she was sorry for winning, is ri-fucking-diculous.

Serena is not a sore loser, which people who dislike her always peg her to be. She’s a gracious competitor. Always. She demonstrated it again today. She embraced Naomi, calmed down the crowd, and made sure was Naomi wasn’t only celebrated, but felt celebrated.

Sad it had to all go down like this…

Naomi, who’s Japanese-Haitian American and representing the country of  Japan, is the first Japanese to win a Grand Slam singles title. That woman is gonna go so far.

“Williams told Ramos “You stole a point from me and you are a thief.” Ramos took the remark as verbal abuse, and awarded a game to Osaka.”

Serena is A True Queen, even after being robbed of a game by a hating ass umpire, sis is still GRACIOUS and showing love to her opponent in their win.

“Osaka played the way you have to play to beat the greatest athlete of all time, but it should never have ended like this. An umpire’s feelings should never decide a game. Serena is absolutely right that men say a lot worse things and never get a violation. Bad moment for sports.” – Michael Skolnik

But you know “She looks like a man” and “Does steriods” Even when she’s never failed a drug test (that she has to take four times more than her oponents) and is clearly a woman, with the body of an athlete that has dedicated her whole life to her sport.

can we, as a society, start to realize that having a phone does NOT mean you HAVE TO BE accsessible to anyone and everyone at ALL times??

My mom threw a fit at me for not answering my phone while i was at my friends place. Kinda hypocritical too, given how much she complains that “youth these days spend to much time on their phones”

My boss was very CLEARLY not satisfied that i only got back to his text hours after he sent it. My friend didnt speak to me for weeks once bc she thought we were having a FIGHT??? bc i didnt reply to her message on facebook? till the day after she sent it??

i HAVE a phone, that doesnt mean i HAVE TO BE availiable whenever ANYONE decides they want me to be???

what the fuck

can people stop assuming they are entiteled to my attention 24/7??

As a feminist, seeing Cate Blanchett in this sort of outfit in her late 40s brings me joy, because most movies would take her age as automatically excluding her from anything even slightly sexy.

As a gay, seeing Cate Blanchett in this outfit renders me incapable of thought and speech.

But women discrimination is a myth right??

Imagine how many people’s lives they ruined. There were probably so many women that went in there knowing they destroyed that test. Yet, when they got their results back…they had to be so confused and disappointed. Mentally and emotionally, that had to be quite the blow. Anyway, this is evil.

This is so evil lmfaoooooo like the world really hates women and we can’t even do anything about it. How depressing.

Not just the lives of the women though. Think of the people their medical advancement, learning, studying, could have gone on to save. Think of the lives they could have helped.

think of the under-qualified men who got these positions instead and went on to kill people. the whole reason this was even discovered is this university was accused of doctoring grades to let the son of politically connected man enroll when he was not qualified. literally sabotaging communities.

Please reblog if you know anyone who might take party drugs.

this is so important

Also important information: A cop cannot arrest you for something you already took. You can tell a cop to his face that you just injected black tar heroin in your veins and as long as you don’t currently have any on you (including things like syringes or residue in a pipe), there’s fuck all he can do about it.

I take police reports for a living. The number of people who will happily tell someone “Well officer, this fight started because I smoked crack cocaine earlier,” is astounding and also not at all illegal. The criminal charge is for Possession of a Controlled Substance. If you don’t possess any at the time, there’s no crime. The only thing you can get dinged for is if you’re actively on a drug and driving, in which case – DUI.

Please, please, please tell EMTs what you took. They’re not going to rat you out to the cops and even if they did, you will still be okay.

Spreading the word, being honest with paramedics and doctors can save your life

You can discover your favourite band when you’re in your late twenties. You can meet your best friend when you’re in your thirties. You can finally accomplish a life goal when you’re in your fifties. Your youth isn’t the only time frame where amazing, life-changing things can happen.

Many people seem to forget this. “Take advantage while you’re young..” is such a popular phrase. No matter where you are in life you can always do and discover new amazing things. I introduced my mom to my favourite bands and now they’re some of her favourites too! It’s never too late ❣️
